One of two new music teachers at Gouverneur High School, Miss Montango, a twin and a trumpet player, is incredibly excited to be working with the 9th-12th band this coming year. Miss Montagno has played the trumpet since 2008 throughout her middle and high school education. Following high school, Miss Montagno pursued music at the College of Saint Rose while getting her degree in music education. Subsequently, she traveled to Potsdam to attend the Crane School of Music and obtained a master’s degree in trumpet performance.
Prior to accepting the teaching position at Gouverneur High School, Miss Montagno ran her own trumpet studio for several years, completed her teaching requirements in the Capital Region of NY, and taught at the Lake Placid middle/high school. After hearing about the open teaching position at Gouverneur High School, she decided to come teach at our school.
In her new position, Miss Montagno is excited to continue after Mrs. Patchin and enhance music education at Gouverneur High School. It is her philosophy that band is so much more than just playing music; students learn to work together as a team, set goals for themselves to achieve, and acquire lifelong skills that continue to assist them in all aspects of their lives. Miss Montagno is excited about our upcoming winter performances and hopes as many as possible will attend!
